Because our Natural Dye Eggs didn't turn out very dyed, we decided to try an additional way of decorating eggs. We went with the super quick method of dyeing eggs - dip a hardboiled egg in vinegar, then apply undiluted food dye directly to the egg. It can be quite messy, so we added the food coloring directly to a Ziploc bag. S then sealed the bag and shook it. After the egg was totally coated, I removed it from the bag and blotted it dry. As we'd read about online, this method is great for vibrant colors, but if you get the egg wet again, it will bleed some food coloring, so be careful!
Next we used a toothbrush dipped in white paint and then I ran my fingers along the bristles with the toothbrush pointing down to flick paint on to the eggs. S was insistent on just watching me do this part - she did not want to give it a try. We made sure to place the eggs on a sheet of paper in our driveway, since the flicking paint can travel pretty far!
Here's the finished product! They are very bright and vibrant, but since they bleed color when wet, I'm not entirely sure how practical they are if you are having an outdoor egg hunt. They would look beautiful on display inside, though!
